Binance withdrew its Greek application in June but says it still plans to seek authorization under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets rules and remain active in Europe.

Binance reaffirms its Europe strategy

Binance withdrew its application in Greece in June, but said it remains committed to operating in Europe on a long-term, compliant basis under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, or MiCA.

The company says it will pursue authorization elsewhere

The company said it still plans to seek authorization under the EU’s MiCA rules and would pursue authorization in another EU jurisdiction ahead of the July 1 MiCA deadline.

Why an EU authorization matters

Approval in one EU country gives the recipient a license to operate across the bloc. Binance had also met all of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission’s requirements, according to Gillian Lynch.

What remains to be established

The available claims establish Binance’s intention to seek MiCA authorization and its commitment to operating in Europe, but do not establish that it has received that authorization or identify the EU jurisdiction where it will apply.
